Bhrigu Nandi Nadi actually is an abomination.

Just as astrologers in North India have corrupted divisional charts and its use, the ones in south India have corrupted Nadi astrology into Bhrigu Nandi Nadi. I’ll give you the story behind Bhrigu Nandi Nadi.

The History (or Scandal):

There was once a gifted astrologer, in the 20th century who died just a few years back. His name was R.G. Rao and the astrology community owes him a lot. If ever astrology gets proven on paper, it will be solely because of the foundational efforts of five people.

  • bhrigu nandi nadiB.V. Raman who translated several texts books on astrology into English.
  • B Suryanarain Rao, the grandfather of B.V.Raman who also translated numerous texts authentically.
  • R Santhanam because of his translation of Chandra Kala Nadi and Brihat Parashara Hora Shastra
  • C. S. Patel for his translations from Bhrigu Nadi and Chandra Kala Nadi
  • R.G. Rao for his translations of Nandi Nadi, Bhrigu Nadi and Kashyapa Hora

Now, it so happened that R.G. Rao had portions of Nandi Nadi, Bhrigu Nadi and a few other texts which he had been researching on for years. the Nadi texts, the actual authentic ones, are spread across India. Some have the originals, others have handwritten notes in which they’ve copied shlokas. Bits and pieces are scattered everywhere.

So, R. G. Rao spent his life trying to decipher the Nadi texts and partially succeeded. He discovered how the Nadi texts use planetary karakatwas and mutual placement of planets to make predictions without actually using any divisional charts, dashas, etc. He found this technique in Bhrigu Nadi and Nandi Nadi. Both the texts have somewhat similar treatments of the concept, but differ minutely. Individually, these texts use a lot of concepts. Bhrigu Nadi uses everything from divisional charts to arudhas. Nandi Nadi uses everything from Nadiamsa to vimshottari dasha.

However, it is too much work for anyone to decipher the voluminous Nadi texts in one lifetime. So R.G Rao focused on just one principle. And he got amazing results. When things started to make sense, he published his book as a collection of predictions written in the nadi texts for a few horoscopes. He took about 150 horoscopes from Bhrigu Nadi, and a similar number from Nandi Nadi. All the horoscopes were chosen such that they illustrate the concept of planetary karakatwas only.

He called the book Bhrigu Nandi Nadi because obviously it had horoscopes from both Bhrigu Nadi and Nandi Nadi. In his other books, where he explained the system, the titles were given as “Rao’s system of Nadi astrology”.

However, since most people are in a lot of hurry and never read properly, they miss to read the preface of the book called Bhrigu Nandi Nadi where R.G. Rao says that the book is combination of horoscopes taken from Bhrigu and Nandi Nadis. And hence, he calls it Bhrigu Nandi Nadi because it is the most sensible name you can pick for such a book.

So, Bhrigu Nandi astrology:

is Rao’s system of Nadi astrology where he explains the concept and use of planetary significations
is not an independent system of astrology but the elaboration of a key concept
is practiced by those who have just read a few pages written by R. G. Rao and never bothered to explore the entire subject
is basically a publicity stunt now a days because you can actually claim to be a Nadi astrologer and even furnish proof of having read it
Bhrigu Nandi Nadi says that,

“Planetary conjunctions mixes the karakatwas of planets so that the result of the combination gets reflected in real life. For example, if Mercury is education and Sun is father, the conjunction of Sun and Mercury means that the father is well educated”

That’s all there is. The entire work is an elaboration of this rule with illustrations. It is an excellent rule by the way, and a single sutra which can enhance your skills by a hundred times, but in the absence of the required astrological knowledge, it cannot yield any results. The basics are the same, from Brihat Parashara to Brihat Jataka. That is something which can just not be avoided.

You can use the above rule of Bhrigu Nandi Nadi to say that a person will be born by the banks of river Ganga and his mother would wear glasses for eyes if you know astrology well. If not, you can only say that the father will be well educated and be limited to that.
