Tanu Weds Manu: Returns is a Hindi romantic comedy film directed by Anand L. Rai. The film is a sequel to Tanu Weds Manu (2011), in which stars Kangana Ranaut and R. Madhavan reprise their roles from the original. The music and background score is composed by Krsna Solo [1] and the lyrics are penned by Raj Shekhar.Ranaut’s portrayal of a Haryanvi athlete as a double role went to receive wide critical acclaim
The film begins where its prequel ends with Tanu and Manu living a happy married life. Nearly 4 years after the marriage, the couple looses interest in themselves. Separating sourly,Tanu returns to her hometown, lighting Kanpur up with her wild-child Bohemian ways while Manu mopes on Delhi until he meets Haryanvi athlete Kusum – who resembles Tanu.The film revolves around the comic love triangle between Tanu, Manu and Kusum and ends up with Manu’s discovery of his true life partner.

The film received mixed critical acclaim but Ranaut’s double role was highly applauded by the critics. Giving the film 4.5 stars out of 5,Srijan Mitra Das of The Times Of India said,” Tanu Weds Manu Returns boasts one of the finest double roles ever in Hindi cinema. Alongside, Madhavan does a fine job as quiet, often morose, sometimes hopeful Manu.”
This film belongs to Kangana Ranaut. This is another stellar performance by her after Queen. Here we have not one but two Kanganas. Tanu along with all her ‘care a damn’ attitude and in your face frankness also has a touch of cynicism, this time around. It is brought about beautifully by the dialogues and essayed marvelously by Kangana. She is totally rocking and endearing as the feisty but good natured Datto as well.

What’s Good: An unusual story cleverly handled by the director. Deft screenplay, spicy dialogues and a mind blowing performance by Kangana which is ably supported by the rest of the cast. Delightful small town flavor.
What’s Bad: The film loses its grip slightly in the second half. For a short while, it seems to be losing its way with no destination in sight. Also, the Manu-Datto love story doesn’t appear that convincing.
